At the ring of trees on the Harbor front in St Pete, Florida near the Dali Museum, we look up at the tops of the palm trees and into the sky.

The Sabal Palm is the official Florida State tree. Granddad called the drooping brown fronds “dirty skirts”. Young boys would put a match to the tinder dry, brown fronds to see hoards of palmetto bugs make an escape from their living quarters. NOT A GOOD TIME TO LOOK UP THAT PALM TREE!
