Here we are at Paul Smith’s College in the Adirondacks and walking around “the green” or large open field. Here many of the 270-300 canoes wait to go out on the water or be sold to members of the WCHA or Wooden Canoe Heritage Association. The canoe on the extreme left is a wood and canvas canoe with a two wood kayaks next to it. The next few are wood “strippers” because they are made of many wooden strips glued together and covered with fiberglass cloth and epoxy. I guess they are hybrids. The tent in the background is one of many where they do workshops on building canoes and forms along with paddles and seat caning. For more on the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association see: WCHA.

A VERY INTERESTING DESCRIPTION TO SUPPORT A COLORFUL ARRAY OF BEAUTIFUL CANOES ON THE GREEN. THE NATURAL WOOD LOOKS RICH.
