While visiting the Grace Carpenter Hudson Museum in Ukiah, California it was fascinating to see the small Craftsman style house off to the side. It turned out to be part of the museum and had just reopened after renovations.  What was this “Sun House”?  It was the small house Grace Carpenter Hudson had built in 1912 after the great San Francisco earthquake and it was also her artist’s studio where she painted.  It had unique panels in the roof that opened and reflected natural light into the studio.
