Blue Mountain Lake is truly one of the “Gems of the Adirondacks”. What an amazing lake to view especially from the Adirondack Museum with all its beautiful little islands throughout it.

He was the general manager of the 1st transcontinental railway, the Union Pacific and president and builder of the Adirondack Railway. The bridge was erected by his son, William West Durant in 1891.
