I went to and looked around the original Adirondack Great Camp “The Hedges” on Blue Mountain Lake. What a beautiful place that has been open and running on Blue Mountain Lake since the late 1880’s. It is still operating as a camp or hotel on the lake today and you can stay there or eat at the restaurant. For more on its history go to The HEDGES.
This is one of the main buildings that has the huge dining hall. Like most Great Camps in the Adirondacks, it has separate buildings for almost everything. There are lodging buildings, dining halls, play or game halls, boat houses, campfire and lean to areas. At night they had a giant bonfire near the lean to on the water and they served pop corn, coffee, chocolate and smores.
