While at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY I noticed the sky was abnormal with a large white ring around the sun even on this fairly clear day.  It was frigid cold out as usual and there around the sun was a nice white, bright polar “rainbow” from the ice crystals in the air.  This was not caused by some lens effect like a flare and was visible easily with the eye.  It was hard to shoot directly into the morning sun.
