Besides wonderful oil paintings and sculpture at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania there was more interesting and unusual furniture.
This desk was pretty in gold inlay and a dark color and I walked by it until I realized it was not wood at all but all buffalo horn with inlaid gold. I can’t imagine how hard it was to make.
This next piece was kind of a “Craftsman” like piece with inlays of metal and a mirror. The wood is quarter cut “tiger” oak:
I liked the large vertical strap hinges and the heart shaped metal inlays.
