Paul Gauguin was “an enthusiastic exhibitor in five of the eight Impressionist exhibitions, but is better known for his work in the South Pacific” in Tahiti and Marquesas Islands where he traveled in the 1890’s after leaving Vincent van Gogh in France.  This painting called “Landscape with Three Figures” 1901 was completed in the village of Atuana in the Marquesas Islands two years before he died.
