There is a tiny hidden lake in the Southern Adirondacks called Twitchell.  Located there is the old Twitchell Lake Inn that was opened about 1900.  It was recently bought by The Hedges Great Camp and has been restored.  This is a photo of the back of the lodge on a very grey day:

On the back deck were cedar trees used in the traditional manner as supports with the trunk going all the way to the ground being used.

Walking down the trail to the water there was a nice dock with canoes and Adirondack chairs and the beautiful water of Twitchell Lake.
