Here we are in the giant tent at Paul Smiths College in the Adirondacks and the DEC and conservation groups there have several tamed wild animals there on display. This porcupine was hand raised since birth and cold not be returned to the wild. He is totally tame and gentle and eats out of the handler’s bare hand. He likes to be held and cuddled but it is very difficult as his spines are painful even by accident. The handler wears a leather glove and arm shield so the porcupine can rub and nuzzle him.
