There are little ponds and giant lakes all throughout the Adirondacks. It is a pleasure to silently paddle one in a wooden canoe and take in all the reflections and smell the hemlock and balsam fir trees. This giant two foot diameter White Pine tree fell into Church Pond near Paul Smiths College in the Northern Adirondacks.  it makes a perfect place to get into and out of your Canoe when taking a trip.  Make sure to stop and visit the secret “Cathedral Pines” along the trail.  this is a super tall stand of White Pines that block out the sun and the needles form a lush, soft carpet at your feet. The wind causes a pleasant whisper in the trees above.
