This “Wee Lassie” type of canoe at the WCHA (Wooden Canoe Heritage Association) at Paul Smiths College, Adirondacks is a “Stripper” type.  It is made of thin wood strips often of varying color like this one.  There is no outer canvas and no internal rib structure as there is an invisible fiberglass/ epoxy coating over the inside and out for strength.  This makes the wood totally visible and makes them incredibly light. This one is about 26 pounds.  They were made famous by Mac McCarthy in his book “Featherweight Canoe Building”.
