Here we are in Newcomb in the Adirondacks visiting the Great Camp Santanoni Preserve. We have taken a long horse-drawn wagon ride and arrived about 1/3rd the way to Santanoni at the Farm. We were fortunate that with our tour group they opened the “New” Farmhouse and we could go in. The inside was lined with wood walls, floors and ceilings. The window panes were small and traditional and surrounded with red paint. Propped against the wall in one room was a door getting repaired and you could see the old thimble where a stove pipe used to go through to warm the room. The only light in the room was the streaming sunshine from the side window.
On a table over on the far wall was an undisturbed newspaper showing how long its been since this room has been used:
The Poughkeepsie Daily Eagle newspaper from December 16, 1913
