Here we are at the Ukiah Airshow in Ukiah, California in July. It is super hot and dry out at nearly 104 degrees and the vast tarmac makes it even hotter. This airshow is at the little Ukiah Airport and here we see another Cal Fire plane at the ready. They told me it was a refurbished older plane with twin engines. It was an interesting design that looked somewhat like a giant gnat or dragonfly with a bridged tail in back. The grass is all brown in Northern California and everything including the rivers and creeks are dry as a bone so there is great risk of fires in the area.
It must get very hot in those cockpits so they have movable insulated shades overhead.
Below is a photo of the bridged twin tails (one from each engine)
