Here is another classic home along the Riverfront in scenic downtown Palmetto, Florida. The Manatee River made for a luxurious view with Bradenton across the river. This house has become the beautiful Palmetto Riverside Bed and Breakfast. “It is a Historic Landmark residence with the Department of Interior and was constructed in 1913. It was built for Julius Lamb, an early Manatee County pioneer. The home was a mail order kit from Sears Roebuck and Company and was one of the most luxurious and largest available. The package was delivered by rail to Tampa and then barged over to Palmetto (because of the lack of major roads back then). The classic home has 22 major rooms and four fireplaces. It is typical of the Arts and Crafts Period with some Colonial Revival. The house and Bed and Breakfast is now maintained by the Lippens Family from Belgium.” (From the Historic Plaque in front of the house by the Palmetto Historical Commission).
