At the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY in the classics gallery upstairs they have many great famous artists. Here is a painting by Pierre Bonnard who was a French Post-Impressionist painter who lived from 1867-1947. This painting is called “The Linen” 1909. It is an oil paint on paper laid down on board. He was influenced by Paul Gauguin’s belief that a painting should be a product of the imagination rather than a mere copy of nature so he often painted by memory.
