This huge bronze sculpture is entitled “Joy and Happiness to All the Children of the World” by the Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. It has become the symbol of the Special Olympics and weighed in at 30 tons. It was brought in by 5 trucks.
Every inch of these sculptures are covered with deep carvings or Bas Relief. Here is a closeup of a section:
There is a ball in the center of the 5 very large bronze sculptures surrounded by water fountains. It has deep relief sculptures on it and you can see the relief on the back “person” is different. The Russian artist Zurab Tsereteli donated his usual fee of $250,000 for this sculpture because it was for children of the world. 1979
