At Genesee Country Village in Mumford, NY one of the houses had this shaving horse. The shaving horse is a woodworking vise where the operator sits on the right half and puts in pieces of wood under the “dumb head” to hold them down while using a draw knife to shave the wood down. The dumb head was clamped down with foot pressure. This dumb head is actually in the shape of a head.
