The landscaped grounds are just amazing at the Ringling Circus Museum in Sarasota, Florida. Much of the grounds of the Museum were part of the original John and Mable Ringling mansion Ca’d’Zan. The huge and wide spreading Banyan trees are a dominant feature and this one can be see spreading wide with many air roots coming down to form new trunks. There was also a lush green undercover below the trees.

Wikipedia … “Older banyan trees are characterized by aerial prop roots that mature into thick, woody trunks, which can become indistinguishable from the primary trunk with age. Old trees can spread laterally by using these prop roots to grow over a wide area.” The lovely green ground cover seems to appreciate the shady atmosphere.
