In Rochester New York, we have the wonderful Memorial Art Gallery.  On a recent trip they had a nice exhibit of the works of M.C. Escher.  This was one of his many iconic works that eventually made it to posters in college dorm rooms even.  In a way, it is an indirect self portrait.
