Here we are at the Grace Carpenter Hudson Museum in Ukiah, California in the stifling but dry heat of Northern California.  It was a nice 104 degrees out and I looked forward to visiting The Sun House, but as soon as we went in I realized it of course had no air conditioning as it was from 1919 or so.  It was still cool with breezes and ventilation. This was the entrance to The Sun House with its trellis overhead and to the left a real Totem Pole.  The door is bright finished like the sun and draws your eye in with its warmth.  The surrounding wood is all old growth Redwood which is very dark in color and rot resistant.
